Car Sales | First Quarter 2018

Posted 27/03/2018

As we approach the end of the first quarter for 2018 it's becoming quite apparent that Car Sales aren't out in front compared to previous years.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders [SMMT] were able to confirm that only 163,615 new motors were driven off of forecourts in January 2018, a complete U-Turn in it's results with a staggering -6.3% drop compared to results of January 2017.

The dip has also continued into February with a drop of -2.8% in sales, traditionally one of the quietest months for the industry just before the March number plate change.

As we approach the end of March, experts have begun to predict that we will reach a 6% decline for new car sales in 2018.
Whilst this is sad news for dealerships, it does mean that there will be more bargains for those who do buy!

Last year Ford Motors took the lead in sales and have had a repeat victory again so far in 2018. Below are the figures for the top five and bottom five brands of 2018 to date.
